Gmail Labs：Gmail实验室正式推出
从昨天开始，所有美国和英国的 Gmail 用户已经可以在 Gmail 设置页面里看到一个新的设置标签：Labs，这就是 Gmail Labs，又一个 Googlers 20% time 的杰作。Gmail Labs(Gmail 实验室) 和之前介绍过的 Google Talk Labs 一样，是一个针对 Google 某个产品的演练场，用于展示一些新的 ideas，并且让用户参与到新功能的建设中来。
Gmail Labs 首先放出的有 13 个新特性。
- a module for quick links (saved searches, important messages)
- superstars (additional star icons) (不知道会不会还有 All Stars 囧)
- pictures in Gmail chat(聊天中加入图片)
- fixed width font
- custom keyboard shortcuts(自定义快捷键，很好)
- mouse gestures(鼠标手势，IE下也行？)
- random signature
- signature tweaks (places the signature before the quoted text)
- custom date format
- muzzle (hide the status of your contacts in Gmail chat)
- play Snake inside Gmail(这个功能很强，可以考虑加入超级玛丽)
- email addict (blocks the screen for 15 minutes)
- hide unread count(最后的三个功能，有点恶搞…)
这些新特性在完成测试之后，由用户的反馈决定去留，最后一些特性会被直接作为 Gmail 的默认功能。这样做的目的，是因为有无数的 Gmail Users 充当免费的 Tester~
Google 的 20% time 已经作为一个非常有名的概念植入了 Googlers 的工作哲学中。在 Google，每个 Googler 可以在每周拿出一天的时间来开发自己感兴趣的项目， 而 Gmail Labs 就是 Googlers 准备利用 20% 的时间来继续开发。而 Gmail 本身确实非常好用，标签、存档、Mail List 功能，与 IM 结合，再加上 Google 的搜索，还有几乎没有漏网之鱼的 Spams。
暂时看到的 Gmail Labs 的功能截图，只有 TechCrunch 提供的三张：
UPDATED：现在只要把 Gmail 语言切换成英文(English US)，就出现 Labs 的标签了，如果你有开启某个功能，会在 Gmail 的右上角出现这样的图标：
